WordCamp Europe 2025 Recap: Looking Ahead From Basel

As we wind down the first full work week after returning from WordCamp Europe 2025 in Basel, it’s time to take stock. The whirlwind of conversations, demos, strategic discussions, and spontaneous meetups is starting to settle, but the impact of this year’s event will be felt for a long time.

This year, our team: Vito Peleg (Co-Founder & CEO), Andrew Palmer (Customer success Manager for Teams), Andrew Lees (Account Executive), and George Johnstone (Business Development Representative) represented Atarim on the ground.

And what a year to be there. Hosted in the heart of Switzerland, Basel provided a beautiful backdrop to what turned out to be one of the most focused, high-quality WordCamps we’ve attended to date.

A Booth Experience That Keeps Evolving

Our presence in the main exhibition hall continued for a second year, building on the momentum from Torino 2024 when we first transitioned from hallway sponsor to a more central location. That change last year paid off in both visibility and meaningful interactions, and Basel only reinforced that decision.

With a larger booth footprint, we were able to engage in more parallel demos, handle a steady stream of booth visitors, and host ongoing conversations without the bottlenecks we’ve experienced in smaller spaces. It also made Atarim significantly easier to spot, which is critical at a packed event like WordCamp Europe, where you’re often competing for attention across dozens of brilliant companies.

What stood out most wasn’t just the traffic, it was the depth of the conversations. More visitors came with context. Many had heard of us. Some were longtime users. Others arrived with a clear pain point in their workflow and left with clarity on how Atarim could solve it.

And of course, we had some incredible swag to give away. Leading the pack was our custom-designed wapuu sticker which quickly became a collector’s favorite. We also handed out Pride pins in celebration of inclusivity, branded golf balls that sparked more conversations than we expected, sleek pens, and more.

The swag not only brought smiles but served as another touchpoint to engage attendees and create memorable brand moments.

Human-First Conversations That Matter

This year more than ever, the conversations weren’t just about Atarim, they were about the broader workflows teams are managing, the changing expectations of clients, and how teams are seeking to bring order to increasingly chaotic digital collaboration.

We didn’t need flashy announcements to make those discussions valuable. Simply having a place where users and curious attendees could talk directly with the people building and supporting the platform made a difference.

What emerged was a clear pattern: clarity is everything. Teams want tools that remove friction, increase visibility, and reduce time spent tracking down feedback and approvals. Our mission, to make visual collaboration and communication easier, felt more aligned than ever with what people are truly looking for.

Reflections From the Team

Vito Peleg – Co-Founder & CEO

“WordCamp has always been a space where our direction is validated, challenged, and sharpened. This year, it was less about showcasing and more about listening. The kind of feedback we gathered from one-on-one conversations in Basel will shape the next 12 months of our roadmap.”

Andrew Palmer – Customer Success Manager for Teams

“It was my first WordCamp in a while, and being back in that space was both exciting and meaningful. The energy was non-stop—our whole team was back-to-back with demos, conversations, and meetings. Andrew Lees was like a machine, and George was absolutely indispensable, handling everything from power plugs to coffee runs.

What really stood out, though, was the mix of attendees: freelancers, agencies, even hosting companies, all eager to understand how Atarim could fit into their workflows, especially around DIFM solutions. It was chaos at times, but we brought clarity to it. And seeing the passion still alive in the WordPress community? That was the real win.”

Andrew Lees – Account Executive

“Getting hands-on with visitors is always valuable. But this year, the questions were more technical, more specific. That tells me we’re talking to people who are seriously considering how to refine their workflows, and they’re looking to us for answers.”

George Johnstone – Business Development Representative

“I spoke to teams that had been using Atarim for years and teams discovering us for the first time. What stood out was how consistently the conversation turned to outcomes, how can we help reduce time-to-approval, minimize miscommunication, and cut project delays. That’s exactly where we’re focused.”

Why Events Like WordCamp Still Matter

There’s always a conversation in the community about whether sponsorship is necessary to gain value from a WordCamp. And while it’s certainly possible to attend and network without a booth, our experience year after year points to a clear conclusion:

Showing up as a sponsor matters.

It gives you a focal point. It makes your team accessible. And it’s a way to give back to the ecosystem that continues to make open-source innovation like ours possible.

Being part of WordCamp isn’t just a marketing play, it’s a commitment to the community. And it’s one we’re proud to keep making.

See You in Kraków, Poland 🇵🇱

Next year, WordCamp Europe heads to Kraków, a city rich in creativity, culture, and collaboration. We’ll be there, and we’re already looking forward to what the next chapter holds.

If you’ve never been to a WordCamp before, let Kraków be your first. And if you’re a returning attendee, make sure to stop by our booth, connect with the team, and see how we’re continuing to push the boundaries of visual collaboration.

Until then, thank you to everyone who made Basel such a success. The conversations, feedback, and friendships formed there continue to inspire everything we do.
